The Definition of Motivation

Understanding of motivation, must emanate from the individual. Unfortunately many organizations failed to understand motivation among individuals, and many individuals failed to understand their own motivation. Thus, it affects both employee and organizational performance.

There were many theories and studies that deal with motivation, in order for us to clearly understand it; many organizations are willing to pay huge amount of money to learn more about it. Also many individuals are willing to spend a day or two to gain more understanding of motivation. Truly, it cannot be denied that motivation plays an important role in the organization and the employees as well. Motivation is a key element in both organizational and employee performances.

The will to perform is the basic core of motivation, our ability to identify the factors that makes us perform is what motivation is all about. Each of us has different factors to consider why we perform, as such these factors range from the very basic, such as food, clothing, and shelter, to the most complicated factors such as pride and power. Regardless of what factors there are, it is important that we can clearly identify them. Motivation is what keeps the engine running among organizations and its employees.

These factors will enable us to continue performing not only in desired levels, but to the most of our abilities. It ignites us to be inspired, to be focused, and to be excellent everyday. It keeps our spirits soaring no matter how difficult and complicated the situation we are facing may be. This will to perform, separates the winners from the losers, motivation helps us to achieve more.

The search for motivation is neither as elusive as finding the Holy Grail nor as tedious as an adventure to Mount Everest. The indications and reasons are already there, it is the proper identification of these motivating factors and understanding ourselves that makes it challenging. More often, we can be mistaken of what are our real motivating factors; sometimes, we fail to recognize other important motivating factors. Oftentimes we cannot comprehend these factors, thus we are not clear of what we want to do. Nevertheless, motivation gives us the right direction and perspective in life.

Each one of us has different motivating factors; individually, it is our responsibility that we are able to understand what makes us perform. We should be able to pinpoint among the many factors that gives us the will to act, thus motivating ourselves to achieve desired results. We must be clear on what makes us continue doing what we want to do. Motivation gives us the real purpose in our everyday life.

The ability to be motivated will give us more control over our daily activities, it gives us the reason to achieve and give meaning to our lives. Identifying these factors will give us the proper motivation techniques to surmount all challenges. Most importantly, these motivating factors will make our lives more enjoyable and easy to deal with. Motivation gives us pride and worth.
