On February 24th 2012, China Wine Awards hosted their second awards event, The China BEST VALUE Wine and Spirits Awards 2012 at The Mira Hong Kong.

The China BEST VALUE Wine and Spirits has been created to give lower price point wines the opportunity to shine, and be further exposed to this rapidly growing market. Unlike other competitions, where often the most expensive wines are at an advantage, the judges of China BEST VALUE Wine and Spirits Awards are only comparing wines against others of the same price point that would suit the China Market.

Wines from over 20 countries have been specially flown into Hong Kong for this historic competition to be blind tasted (sampled without revealing the labels) by 90 of the most important wine buyers in HK and China. The judges have been carefully selected for this unique event to discover the best value wines for the Chinese wine market and are hotel wine sommeliers, wine buyers, distributors and food & beverage directors based in Greater China.

At 3 PM, Cara G., Hong Kong Super Model, Chanel M Host, Cover Girl, and Duran Duran Music Video Star will be attending the media press call, photos, ribbon cutting and Q&A.

The China BEST VALUE Wine and Spirits Awards 2012 also offers the public a chance to taste the wines at their Grand Tasting event starting from 3:30PM. Guests are able to taste wines as well as meet and greet the winemakers themselves who have flown in especially for the event. Visitors can register online at http://www.chinawineawards.com/visitor-registration/

Bottles with price tags of up to HKD$10,000, will compete head to head, to win the awards organised by Greater China?s most prestigious wine competition organisation ? The China Wine Awards (CWA), headed by Kelly England. China drank 1.8 billion bottles of wine in 2011, growing 33% on the previous year, so discovering the best wine is an important process.

The last wine completion held by the CWA in September 2011 at The Mira was the largest ever wine tasting held in Hong Kong and made press waves across the globe for choosing only HK and China based Judges. Kelly England says, ?The Mira Hong Kong is such a beautiful hotel and the perfect blend of East meets West to discover the best wines for HK and China?.

?It is essential to know what Chinese people believe is the most delicious wines and that matches their food and lifestyles. The China Wine Award Judges are carefully selected as they are the biggest buyers and know what works here?, says Kelly England. This is the only major international wine competition judged specifically for the China market and is entirely focused on Chinese consumer preferences.
