Smith Moore Leatherwood Earns Top Rankings in 2011 Chambers Guide ...

Raleigh attorney recognized among state's best in labor and employment law

- Smith Moore Leatherwood attorney Jerry Oliver from the firm?s Raleigh, N.C., office has been ranked among ?Leaders in Their Field,? by Chambers and Partners, publisher of the world?s leading guides to the legal profession. The 2011 Chambers USA Guide was published earlier this month and selected Oliver among the state?s best in labor and employment law. The firm?s labor and employment practice was also recognized in the 2011 Guide as one of the best in the state.

In its 12th year of publication, Chambers USA is an annual publication ranking leading attorneys and law firms in the United States. The results are gathered through hours of research and thousands of interviews with both clients and attorneys, with greater weight given to the views of the clients. The qualities on which the rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by the client.

?These rankings acknowledge Jerry and his efforts to build one of the most comprehensive labor and employment practices in the state,? said David Otterson, partner in charge of the firm?s Raleigh office. ?We also are delighted that our firm has been recognized for its outstanding reputation in labor and employment law.?

Firm wide, the 2011 Chambers USA Guide selected 20 Smith Moore Leatherwood attorneys from the firm?s offices in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. The firm also earned recognition by the professional legal guide in seven core practice areas. These included: Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions; Environmental Law; Health care; Labor and Employment; Litigation: General Commercial; Real Estate Law; and Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use.
